COMMUNITHON
With over 40 years of fundraising history and diverse local entertainment, the Weyburn Communithon has invested over $4 million back into the community.
Communithon is:
Televised fundraiser held annually
Community-driven live telethon
Aired by local Access Communications
Hosted at the Weyburn Legion
Proceeds distributed among 10 local member agencies
Agencies provide necessary services within the community
Focus on community unity, fun, and local support
Over 40 years of fundraising for community agencies in Weyburn and area
Features local entertainment including schools, bands, choirs, and entertainers
Over $4 million invested back into community agencies
Committee comprised solely of volunteers

2020 To Present

2022 | 40th Anniversary year. 40 Years Strong & Getting Better theme.

2021 | Fall in Love With Communithon theme - back with a live audience
2000 To 2019

2014 | Communithon moved to their new, temporary venue - the Cugnet Centre.

2012 | Let's Work Together theme. 31st annual fundraiser.

2003 | The Weyburn Comprehensive School held penny wars to raise funds. This was a new event to help support Communithon.

2002 | I'm a believer theme. We fell short of the goal by $1200 this year.

2000 | Exceeded goal by over $41,800.
1990 to 1999

1999 | Building a Better Community theme. More support from community agencies received this year with plenty of advertising and promotion on their part.

1996 | Another year shortfall by $20,000. The goal was $105,096 and we reached $85,874.

1992 | Large donation of $12,533.92 came in from the estate of Esther Kirkoff.

1991 | 10th anniversary year. Also, first year there was a shortfall. The goal was $104,991 and we reached $102,750.

1990 | Over the top! Our goal was $90,000 and we reached $102,200.
1981 To 1989

1989 | Battle of the Service Clubs - a new feature! Knights of Columbus brought in the proceeds from providing dinner at the last minute.

1988 | Year of the United Way Walkers. Falling short half an hour before closing, Reinhart passed 3 one-dollar bills to the front to surpass target by at least one dollar.

1986 | First year a woman was named Captain United.

1984 | A unique idea to earn pledges was proposed: Mailman knocking on 30% of the doors on his route to earn $200.

1984 | City Council fulfilled the challenge of singing "Home, Home On the Range."

1982 | First attempt to replace door-to-door collections. Total donations $78,800.
